Miami, FL, Friday 15 August 2025. As summer 2025 winds down, vacation season ends and a new school year starts, SAMA held its 8th Board Meeting of the year. It took place on Thursday 14 August at the World Trade Center in Miami. Officers present were Daniel Álvarez (president), Joaquín Ruhi (vice president) and Jorge “Nacho” García (secretary). Also present were president emeritus Paul Borden, board advisor María Ravani. and special guest Ariel García-Linares (Vice President, Transportation Sector at Ketchum). Immediate past president Woodie Lesesne attended via remote Zoom.
September events
As mentioned in last month’s meeting, SAMA’s initial September 2025 event is the second Hot Wheels Fun Day in conjunction with the Miami Cancer Institute. This spiritual successor to SAMA’s Rides and Smiles serves as a kickoff for National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month events there. Last-minute details were discussed and tended to.
Next on SAMA’s September activities calendar is the 2nd annual ChargedUp Miami drive and awards event for electrified vehicles. This will take place on Wednesday 24 September at The Athletic Club Miami. The Marriott AC Hotel Miami Wynwood will again be the official hotel for out-of-town guests attending ChargedUp Miami and the Miami Auto Show. For 2025, the hotel agreed to maintain the same special SAMA rate it charged members last year.
We remind you that the 2025 Miami International Auto Show will run between Friday 26 September and Sunday 5 October. The press day schedule for Friday 26 September has yet to be announced. Another important reminder is that all members planning to attend the Miami Auto Show Media Day press events need to submit a Media Application. This is available on the Miami Auto Show website. SAMA will also send the link via a separate upcoming email reminder.
