Miami, FL, Friday 14 November 2025. The 11th SAMA Board Meeting of 2025 marked a return to its customary second Thursday of the month date. It was held at the usual World Trade Center in Miami. venue. Officers present in November were Daniel Álvarez (president), Joaquín Ruhi (vice president) and Jorge “Nacho” García (secretary). Also present were immediate past president Woodie Lesesne and board member Eduardo Hapke. Special guest was Albert Collazo, Hispanic Communications Director for Ford.
As we reach the quarter-mark of the 21st century…
The approaching end of the 2025 calendar year means that we are reaching the quarter-mark of the 21st century. (How time flies!) December is traditionally a month for celebration, and there are certainly a couple of those on our calendar.
The first one of these is Negocios and Ejecutiva Magazines’ End-of-Year Cocktail, This event, co-sponsored by SAMA and hosted by Eduardo Hapke and Karen Blanco, will be held on Wednesday 10 December.
Following shortly afterwards is the annual SAMA End-of-Year Sponsor Appreciation Meeting. Sometimes referred to colloquially as the SAMA Holiday Party, it will be held on Saturday 13 December.
A “Save-the-Date” email has already gone out to SAMA members, and watch your email boxes for more detailed follow-up information on times, locations, RSVP and lodging.
Submissions for SAMA member reviews
Our November Board Meeting also touched upon how to best highlight our member journalists’ work on our sama.miami website. To date, we have reprinted a handful of complete reviews by Paul Borden. This process, however, turned out to be quite time-consuming, and all SAMA members are certainly welcome to submit their reviews. After some thoughtful discussion, a consensus emerged that single articles comprising of links to multiple members’ reviews (be they on their websites, blogs, YouTube or social media channels) would be the most time-efficient solution.
More details on this plan will be ironed out and shared with our members in the near future.
The November 2025 Board Meeting was the last one for this calendar year. There will be no Board Meeting held in December. The next one will tentatively be held on Thursday 15 January 2026.
